Looking Back on Trump’s First 500 Days from an Argentine Perspective

500 days ago, the planet awoke to a new world leader, Donald J. Trump, a year and change after Mauricio Macri was elected president of Argentina. It’s not news that relations between the United States and Argentina weren’t at their best prior to Macri’s inauguration, but his election, as well as his friend’s at the head of the superpower, brought an end to the way the US largely ignored the country under Cristina Fernández de Kirchner’s administration.

Since then, much has happened: the political and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela is reaching new proportions, Trump came very close to pushing his big red button on North Korea (and now they’re pals?), he didn’t want our aluminium at one point – but seems to like our lemons just…
